Hi, Dear Readers!

I just wanted to come and wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving.   I know that this blog is supposed to be about providing information regarding mesothelioma symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options, but I feel the need to explain the lack of anything new lately.

I do apologize that I've not been here awhile, as my dad passed away on September 11, and have been staying with my mom for awhile, so she's not alone.  I've also been sick quite a lot, and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia earlier this year, which has really been keeping me much less active than I used to be.  I appreciate that you come here and read my blog, such as it is at this moment, as there have not been any new mesothelioma, or other health/medical posts recently.  I am sorry for this, and I hope to be back soon, sharing vital information with those who seek it.

Mesothelioma is a terrible disease which is causing a lot of pain, misery, and untimely death in the world, and it is a shame.  I wish that I could do more for people who are searching for helpful information.  Hopefully, I will be able to be back at doing my research and posting new information soon.

Thank you again for coming and reading, and leaving your comments - they are very important and special, and I do read each one, even if it takes me awhile to get to them.  Please do continue to come and read and leave your comments.

May each one of you be blessed this holiday season and in the coming years with good health, good relationships with family and friends, a good living, and most importantly, a good relationship with our Creator, as this is most important.

Blessings,
n :)

Thanks Again, Readers!

Hello again, everyone!  I just had to come and say another quick "thank you" to all of you who continue to come and read this blog, and to even ask about how I'm doing.  I must say that my own diseases have been getting the best of me lately, and as you can tell, have prevented me from being able to sit up and research more and share it with you.  I do apologize for the lack of new information at present, but I promise that I'm going to come soon and post more new information.

I have had to make a recent move, and it has added to the pain of my condition, and so I have needed to recover (it's taking much longer than I had hoped, of course!).  I truly appreciate your coming to read this information -this disease is devastating, and close to my heart.  While it was not mesothelioma (I don't think), my fiance died several years ago of lung cancer, and I was able to witness firsthand the devastation and pain it causes, the wasting away of body, hopes and dreams,  and life altogether, and so I want to do what I can to share information with others about this disease..

I was raised during a time when asbestos was commonly used in building homes and businesses, and many other applications, and it was legal, so many of those who are now affected by mesothelioma are those who are around my age -which further causes me distress.  I can recall the tiles on the outside of my childhood home were those made of asbestos, and yes -it is quite unnerving, knowing what I have learned about the causes, symptoms and prognosis of this dreaded disease.

On that note, I have further resolved to exert more effort to find out all that I can for all who are interested, who are seeking any information that they can find about this, so I hope that you will keep coming back and checking, and please -share this information with your friends, and have them read it, especially those who were raised in the '60s -baby boomers -they're the ones who are more likely to have been exposed to asbestos during their young lives, or even when they began working, as many business locations were built with it, as well as many occupations dealt with handling it on a daily basis.  I want this information to get to as many as possible, and I thank you for your help in this area.

For now, have a wonderful day, and thanks again for your support and kind words -they do mean very much to me!  I hope to return soon with new content.

Blessings,
ninib :)

Hello, Readers!

I just wanted to stop in for a few moments and say hello to all of you, and to say thanks for your reading and support of my efforts to share all that I have  been able to find on this terrible disease.  I appreciate all of your kind words and encouragement, and the information which you are aware of which I may not have yet added to the site.

I have been moving for the last few weeks, and with my spinal and fibromyalgia issues, it's very slow and painful to undertake such a huge task.  Thus, I have not been able to come and share with you as much as I would have liked to.  Now that I'm alled in, I hope to be back very soon.  In the meantime, I pray that all of your loved ones will find  information and comfort you  are in need of while  you are here, and that you  stay well.

Blessings always,
N :)

Must-Read Book

I just wanted to make mention of a book I found listed in some of the Mesothielioma resources I've managed to find for you.  It looks like it would be a really interesting and informative read, while sharing some of the more personal and human aspects of the disease, which can't be quantified and written about in a purely clinical manner, but might be just what more of the world needs to have shared with them, to increase the world's desire to enlighten all to the horrors of this dread disease, and to lobby governments worldwide to ban the mining, distribution and use in ALL construction, EVERYWHERE, and FOREVER, IMMEDIATELY!

mesothelioma symptomsThis book represents a couple of threads of an  intricate weaving; a tiny segment of a story of the Baryulgil Asbestos Mine and its catastrophic effects on Bundjalung People and others.
  • Title: White Dust Black Death: The Tragedy of Asbestos Mining at Baryulgil
  • Author: Peter Webster
  • ISBN: 1412050774
  • Publisher: Trafford Publishing
  • Pub Date: 2006-07-06
  • .

I can't help but believe that if more people like you and I are made aware of the horrible effects and losses caused by this disease on a more individualized, personalized level, we'll feel more inclined to share what we know with others, and push harder for change, while inciting the others with whom we've shared what we've learned to do the same.  The "domino effect", I suppose.

Please, tell me what you think - if you read it, let me if you would like me to find more similar reading for you.

As always, I welcome your comments, and greatly appreciate them.  Please keep them coming, and do share this information with anyone else who will listen.  Together, even one or two starting out on a mission can become millions, or with the technology of today, at least have the strength and reach of many more!

Blessings,
ninib :)

Mesotheiloma - A Widow's Story

This touching story is from an article published in the United Kingdom.  I thought that I should share it, just for the human aspect.  It's proof positive that as human beings, no matter where we live on this great planet, we're still the same on the inside - same hopes and dreams for a good, healthy and long life for ourselves, our loved ones, and even for those who we most likely will never hear of, let alone meet.  We also seem to share that same innate desire to help those we are able to help, however we are able to help them, and even despite our limitations, we still find a way!

A WORTHING lady whose spouse died from an asbestos-related cancer is raising awareness of the illness in a bid to improve treatment and inform people of the dangers of asbestos.

Peter Mann sadly died from mesothelioma on June 14 of this year, an elderly gentleman of 69, after being diagnosed with the more-and-more-common illness months earlier.

He had, in the mid-1950s, begun his exposure to asbestos when he worked as an neophyte plumber. But, as is familiar with mesothelioma, the illness remained dormant until January of this year when he and his wife, Hazel Mann, received the painful news of his diagnosis.

Hazel, of Limbrick Lane, (UK) mentioned that her spouse “kept fighting until the end” notwithstanding the “horrendous” suffering of his condition. The 63-year-old said: “When he was diagnosed they asked him if he wanted to know how long he had to live and he said ‘no’. “The sunrise before he died, he was  suffering terribly, but he kept trying to get up to walk- it was horrendous."  “He didn’t wish to die and he kept fighting until the end.  My mom had lung cancer and it was bad, but she was not suffering nearly as much as my spouse was. You just can’t suppose what it was like.”

To coincide with Mesothelioma Awareness Day, on Friday, Hazel and her family spent the afternoon near the Bandstand in Worthing, raising donations for "Mesothelioma UK" with a donation bucket, in addition to handing out pamphlets about the disease.  Hazel and her family raised  L3350, that will go to the philanthropic group, "Mesothelioma UK".  Hazel added: “I’d likewise like to express gratitude to all the inexhaustible people who donated. “The number of people with mesothelioma will shortly attain its peak, and it affects around 2,000 people any year. Although there is reduction in the amount of asbestos around, people are still coming into contact with it, and people must be aware that you do not have to work with asbestos to develop mesothelioma. There are people who washed the clothing of an associate who obtain it.”

This leaves the possibilities much more profound than any of us had previously believed, as well as increasing the circle of those we know and love who are now at risk of that dreaded diagnosis at some point in the future.  With that in mind, please do remain vigilant in observing or watching for any new symptoms, which you can find described on this site, in the article which names and describes this dreaded disease, along with listing the various forms, as well as the symptoms.

Thank you all for reading and sharing this information with all who will listen, so that anyone who may be at risk can also remain watchful.  Thank you also for your kind comments, and kind support, as I greatly appreciate it.

Blessings,
ninib :)
